I have found out that many people these days are using coupons and double coupons at their local supermarkets which are helping them save pennies on the dollar.  These wonderful coupons (as I have said before) are like the manufacture giving you money to pay for their product. What is interesting is how certain foods over the past year have increased in price. For example lets just take good ole fashioned bacon.  I have a family of five and one pack of bacon can go through this house in a matter of three days!!! These growing girls and boys love their breakfast! I have seen the price increase from $3.49 to $4.99 at my local grocery store in the past year. that is over $1.00!

I know that it has been where increases of food prices have been gradual ,but my paycheck has not. So when will all of this inflation and recession cycle end?  Who knows.  All I know is that I have ( and also many of you) found ways to take that dollar and stretch it to no end.  Have you ever thought about another alternative…..?

You may not know it but there is another good shopping secret that you may pass by every day that is right under your nose. You see it but you don’t. But the funny thing is, when I go to that ‘particular’ section of the food store, then everyone shows up… do you know what I am talking about? If not, I call it the discount section.

Yes, you have seen it with all the beat up cans, half bent cereal boxes and squished bread. I would  advise to take a look around and you may find something that you can use or prepare for tonight’s dinner.  Another form of advise that I always do is look for a young pimple- faced teens stacking cans and ask when does the grocery store receive their shipments.  When a grocery store brings in a new shipment, then they try to get rid of their past shipments and place them at discounted prices. Ask when this takes place and you may find some really good deals. Sometimes they will have their recent stock discounted as much as 70% off of the original price!  Also at my store they have the ‘discounted items’ may be located in different places in the store.

So the next time that you go to the grocery store with your coupon purse, see if you can also fine other ways to save by going to your nearest discount section and see what they have. You may be able to save a little more on dinner tonight!!!
